Overlooked, simply cut off, because it scratches and bites – the tag– says a lot about our clothing, but it is often ignored. There is little chance of breaking through with important information for us consumers.

We buy a lot of clothes, but do we look at their composition? We buy because we like the cut or the colour? When entering the store, we are guided primarily by our taste. We look for clothes tailored to our silhouette, style, season. It is also worth checking the price tag to see if what encourages us visually – is also safe for us. Whether a wool coat, has a little wool in the composition, or a silk blouse is not combined with polyester fiber. On the Polish market, most of the clothes are made of artificial and synthetic fibers that do not pass air and are not friendly to our environment, but above all to our skin. The king of artificial fibers is undoubtedly polyester. It makes us cut in the summer, we electrify the cold. Remember, choose clothes made of natural fibers like cotton, tencel, viscose, silk, linen! Clothes with such a composition, will serve you longer and you will feel comfortable in them.

How to wash?

Chlorinate or not chlorinate? Dry drum or leave on a hanger? Wash by hand or in a washing machine? What do all the characters really mark?

Correct reading of the label will allow us to safely clean our clothing – which will translate into longer use.

Wash

Sustainability is not just about large corporations and companies producing our clothing. It is also we in everyday activities that contribute to change for the better. Choosing laundry at the lowest temperature, we reduce energy consumption. If you want to refresh your clothes choose low temperatures. Remember that the washing machine is always full – this will allow you to manage energy and water sparingly.

Iron only clothing made of natural fibres. Artificial and synthetic fibers under the influence of iron temperature will burn and deform. Remember to iron clothing that needs it, thus it will use electricity rationally.

Dryer, it's convenience and time saving, but not saving electricity! Use the dryer rationally.

By reading the information on the tags, we protect ourselves and our environment. Symbols and composition do not have to be something difficult to read. Having knowledge of good composition selection and correct washing will allow us to enjoy good product quality. The tag is also information about the origin of our product. By supporting our native industry – we choose consciously and wisely. We are opposed to shortcomings and poor working conditions in countries where the clothing industry is exploitative. We have the biggest tool – choice.

REMEMBER! Do not cut the tags on clothes if they "scratch" them, but so that they are still legible and that our clothes can be used for years.
Many care mistakes result from mis-reading tags, or cutting them and washing them "blind", and yet we want to be  #zerowaste
